Happy Holidays!

Shared on: Thursday, December 25, 2008

Two weeks before before Nicole had their lovely son JJ we got the four of us together to create a photograph for our own holiday card for the studio.  After much discussion we settled on Nicole laying, with us writing ‘Happy Holidays’ on her belly with color blocks and then have Anne, Hillary and myself behind her.   Of course after it wasn’t long before Jester decides to join us, much to the annoyance of Anne.   Unfortunately my remote trigger is broken so I had to put the camera on timer and run back to get into frame.

Anyway, happy holiday’s to everyone.  Wishing you the simply best time with whatever you are doing.

Holiday photography – bring your dogs too!

Shared on: Sunday, December 7, 2008

One of the things that I love at this time of year is that its the time that many families choose to bring their dogs with them for their holiday photographs.  It’s not that we don’t see dogs here at other times of the year, but I guess with the festive season coming up the dogs are top of mind just as much as the kids when it comes to photographs.

Here we have Heidi and her crew shot in our photography studio in Seattle a few weeks ago.  A couple of different treatments this time as I experiment with colors.

Some quick holiday photography previews

Shared on: Saturday, December 6, 2008

Lots of work happening right now in our photography studio in Seattle as we get ready for the holiday.  I’ve been slacking at updating the blog recently but here quickly are a couple of photographs of these two gorgeous kids that came into the studio with their Mum recently.

Just adorable!

Holiday Photography – Frank, Suz and Olivia

Shared on: Sunday, November 2, 2008

A few days ago I got the chance to sit down with Suzanne to review their proofs from our recent photo session in our Seattle photography studio.  We managed to get a nice manageable number for her to take home to show Frank.  These three were a few of our favorites and I thought I would post them quickly for them before I start my day.

I have to say that I love Olivia’s beautiful red cowboy boots.  I’m a big fan of cowboy boots and with the fall weather arriving I have been wearing mine much more frequently.  Believe it or not I had my eye on a pair of red ones as well, all be it a bit darker leather.  But I’m saddened to report that when I went to the store to buy them they were sold out and had switched suppliers.  Ms Olivia’s red pair here were actually a gift from her much older brother, how cool is that!  Such a lucky young lady.

Holiday Photography – Shelley and her crew

Shared on: Tuesday, October 28, 2008

I just finished up with uploading some additional previews of another recent Holiday Photography session that we had last week in our photography studio here in Seattle.  This time it’s Shelley, who not only brought her two beautiful children, but they brought their lovely black Labrador dogs.  Oh my gosh, did we have so much fun!   We started out photographing just the kids, then Mum joined us for a while and it wasn’t long before we had all five of them rolling around the studio having fun.  We are excited to get Shelley in to see the complete round of proofs, but until then here is a sneak peak for her and her crew.

I’ve also created this mini video of some of the out-takes from our session together.  Anne is doing  a great job at capturing some video footage of our sessions, there is a funny clip in here where the young puppy covers me with kisses while I’m trying to get the kids to turn around.  Funny.  Click on the thumbnail below to see the short clip plus these slides.

Holiday Photography – Anna and Russ

Shared on: Monday, October 27, 2008

This last week, not surprisingly we have been very busy with holiday photography sessions here in our photography studio in Seattle.  Although we are still in October (just) the holiday’s are not far away so if you haven’t booked a holiday photography session yet there is still time so please get in contact soon.   I realize that holiday photo’s are often stressful, however we pride ourselves on creating a relaxed atmosphere so that you can have some fun and get some great shots.

Here are a few photographs from Anna’s crew of boys for them to check out!  Looking forward to seeing you guys soon so that we can review all the proofs.  Thanks for such a fun session!

I also put together this quick video of some of the out-takes from the fun session that we had and added the photography set to a fun music track.  Click on the thumbnail below to see some of the action.

family time in our photography studio

Shared on: Sunday, August 10, 2008

I’m still working through reviewing a number of recent photography sessions and catching up.  These three adorable folks came into the studio the week before last, with Steve’s parents that were also visiting.  You might recognize Jenny and Noah from another recent session that took place last month.  This time Dad Steve was able to get some time away and join them all.

There were a lot of photographs from the most recent session that I think they are going to like.  Here’s three of my favorites of this young family that I toned with a traditional Sepia look.

the sisters

Shared on: Friday, November 23, 2007

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday, hopefully lots of great food with your friends and friends.

Now that the holiday is over I’m turning my attention back to the studio.  On Wednesday of this week we had the opportunity to work with two totally cool sisters that had decided that they wanted to surprise their family with some special photographs for their holiday gift.  Like many families these days they live in multiple cities and only get the chance to come together as a family occasionally and this Thanksgiving was one chance they had to make some beautiful photographs together.  We spent a bunch of time working together and the ladies brought a bunch of different outfits to try – here is one that I love that shows the interaction of the two sisters and their relationship.   I’m looking forward to reviewing the photographs with them later today.

As many folks get into that holiday mode and start to plan holiday parties, family gatherings and of course holiday gifts its a time when we get really busy.  But heck, its a fun time for everyone and we aren’t complaining at all.

Cheers

Ben and Claire

Amy and I just got finished this weekend with wrapping a lovely canvas print of Ben and Claire.  They came into the studio along with their parents for one of our holiday packages and we had quite the hoot with them.  This photograph was the final choice for the main canvas print that was going to be a gift.  I very much love this image as its shows the completely fun times that we were having that day and in many ways a reflection on their relationship.

I’m hoping the parents love this as much as I do!

Halloween fun

Shared on: Saturday, November 3, 2007

This week saw Halloween and to mark the event we opened up the studio for a fun day of silly photography.  Typically I’m not into the tacky backdrops and such but Amy persuaded me this time and seeing as the day was less about art and more about fun it seemed perfect.

I think my favorite was the cemetery area with lots of spooky looking tree’s and of course the graves to entertain guests, especially fun when you are dressed up like Spiderman and you can’t stop laughing!  A little bit different from another cemetery in Australia that I love.  The day was a lot of fun for both the young and just the young at heart crowd!
