Going to the hospital to photograph a newborn baby of less than 24 for hours is pretty special enough. But when’s it’s the baby son of someone who has worked for you for the last nine months and someone that you have grown to love, respect and adore it becomes an especially event.

So it’s my honor to introduce Shea Vedder, born at 1.23am this morning weighing in a 6lb 8oz at Swedish Ballard in Seattle. Proud Mum – Erin and Dad – Joe are doing very well and incredibly excited. Erin’s parents arrived this afternoon as well and are in full support.

I’m so excited for you guys.

Over the last few weeks we had a very special guest: Baby Ava! After our Maternity shoot with Michee and Terry, and Phil’s visit to the hospital for the under-24-hour-old shoot, we finally met the gorgeous little girl here at the studio.

The girls gushed as she yawned and smiled, made faces and wiggled around. Michee is truly a radiant new mother and as we looked through several adorable baby outfits for her shoot, it was clear that tiny Ava is already a fashionable little diva!  And then just look at that proud Dad, Terry.

We first photographed Michee and Terry for their maternity session back in January, and now, just two months later, we had the pleasure of visiting the couple at the hospital this morning to welcome their beautiful new arrival to the world, baby Ava. 

Emitted into Swedish on Michee’s own birthday, Terry called us in excitement announcing that baby Ava was on her way!   The adorable little gift was born March 23rd, 2011 at 3:26pm, weighing in at 7 lbs 15oz and is 20 inches long .  

By the time I got their this morning Ava was totally awake and alert.    Mum and Dad were still recovering but enjoying every moment of their darling little girl.  It was such a special time and I’m so honored to be part of her first day on this planet.   We can’t wait to see her back in the studio frequently over the coming year, with the "Baby’s First Year" package.  

We had a fabulous start to the day when Nicole and I visited Swedish Medical Center to photograph newborn baby girl Piper who was born just yesterday morning.  We just love working with newborns and especially in the first 48 hours when they are the tinniest so it was especially exciting to get the chance to spend time with Piper and Mum and Dad this morning.  She checked in ay 6lb 8oz when she was born and Mum doing super well.  We lucked out by getting some shots of Dad, who typically isn’t too happy to be in front of the camera

Such a special way to start the day, thanks guys for letting us share this moment with you.

A couple of weeks ago Nicole and I got to spend a wonderful couple of hours with a beautiful baby who was only just over a week old.  No matter how often we get to spend time with newborn babies and their parents it never fails to amaze me at the wonders of life and all its miracles!  I need to get these beautiful photographs printed next, but in the meantime if you have a moment please check out this beautiful family.

I’m just wrapping up deliver of some electronic photographs to some clients and couldn’t resist posting these two quickly.  These were taken a few weeks after their son was born in their home in Seattle.  As any parent knows the first few weeks of birth are a little crazy but the smiles and love on their faces show how much its all worth it.  Such a special time and I always feel so fortunate to get the chance to be involved in a small way.

Last week Nicole and I went over to meet the adorable Sydney Kate for the first time.  Although we do a lots of our photography sessions in our studio in Seattle we typically do most of our newborn baby sessions at our clients home because its so much easier for them.  For this visit we also got to meet the coolest bulldog ever along with Grandma who was visiting from California which was an added bonus.

I’m excited to get Mum and Dad into the studio so that they can see the results of that fun morning, but until then I put together a quick music slide show for them.  Make sure the sound is turned on to enjoy these lovely photographs of this ever so special time for Mum and Dad.  It was just lovely to meet the everyone and a privilege to photograph her so young.  Click in the preview below to start the music video.    

This is a print that I finished a while ago and just had to post.  To me there are few things more special than the first few weeks of a child’s life and its especially exciting when its the first child.  I shot this photograph in our photography studio in Seattle and I just love the interaction between the three of them with Mum being so excited while baby looks at Dad who looks so proud. 

All in all, just adorable!

Just before the holiday I got the chance to brave the Seattle snow and visit my best friends for a birthday party of their one year old twins.  It was a lovely time with lots of friends and family visiting to mark the occasion which much talk about the crazy weather that Seattle is having this winter. 

Here are a couple of photographs with proud Grandma that I thought I would post quickly. 

One of the popular services that we offer our newborn baby clients is to schedule their photography session in the comfort of their own home.   We know that the first few weeks are hectic and its often easier for us to come to you. So this weekend we got the chance to meet the simply beautiful Joshua and his adorable parents in their Seattle home. 

His Mum has been the childhood friend of Sara, one of my friends and I was honored when we got asked to photograph this young guy.  After re-arranging their living room a little we got started with lots of ideas to create some photographs that we think his parents will love.  We even managed a guest appearance of their two cats – all be it not too happy with the attention!

This little man was so good throughout the session and he didn’t cry at all and even stayed awake for the whole thing.  I know Mum and Dad are keen to see some initial previews so I thought I would post some here – I bet Aunt Sara will enjoy them too!
